Job description

Summary of Position

The Laser Measurement Technician Trainee will digitally measure countertop jobs and work with CAD programmers to translate jobs for ordering. Trainees will be taught the process on how countertops are installed and come together in a kitchen or bathroom, as well as how measurements are taken. Hand measuring will also be required to verify laser measurement results. Chicago Metropolitan Stone Fabricators utilizes the LT-2D3D Laser Templator to ensure accurate measurements.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to learn and understand the template machine and how it functions. (LT-2D3D)

  • Must be able to take hand measurements for all jobs as a verification that the laser system is working properly.

  • Provide outstanding customer service to end users while being respectful of customer properties.

  • Evaluate countertops during on-site visits and perform finish work, as applicable.

  • Analyze, document and communicate on-site visit findings.

  • Assess, analyze and give input on customer complaint resolutions.

  • Operate basic power tools.

  • Maintain supplies and keep tools in good working condition.

  • Represent the company well while driving the company vehicle to all site visits.

  • Performing other ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned by management.

  • Ability to read and analyze blueprints.

  • Ability to learn the company computer software program.

  • Mathematical competency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to meet deadlines, exhibit great attention to detail, and communicate in a positive manner is essential. Communicating professionally and clearly is required. A thorough understanding of software (3D CAD), systems, business procedures, and problem-solving is necessary for success. Knowledge of countertop fabrication process and materials.

Ability to analyze technical data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the minimum requirements of the company's insurance provider.
