What is a Trainee UX Designer job?

A Trainee UX Designer is an entry-level role where you learn the fundamentals of user experience (UX) design. You'll assist in research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing to create intuitive digital experiences. This role often involves working under the guidance of senior designers and collaborating with teams like developers and product managers. It's a great starting point for building a career in UX design while gaining hands-on experience with industry tools and methodologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Trainee Ux Designer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Trainee UX Designer, you need a solid understanding of design principles, user research methods, and basic proficiency in wireframing and prototyping—often supported by coursework or a relevant degree. Familiarity with industry-standard design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, as well as exposure to usability testing platforms, is highly beneficial. Strong communication skills, creativity, and a collaborative mindset help you stand out in cross-functional team environments. These competencies ensure you can effectively contribute to user-centered design projects and grow within the rapidly evolving field of UX design.

What types of projects or tasks can a Trainee UX Designer expect to work on during their early career?

As a Trainee UX Designer, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as creating wireframes, helping conduct user interviews or surveys, gathering and analyzing usability feedback, and assisting in the development of prototypes. Early in your career, you'll often support more senior team members, gain hands-on experience in various design processes, and contribute to collaborative brainstorming sessions. You might also participate in user testing, documentation, and preparing presentation materials for stakeholders. This well-rounded exposure helps you build a strong foundation in UX design, gradually preparing you for more complex responsibilities as you advance.

How do I get into UX design with no experience?

To become a trainee UX designer with no experience, start by learning core skills such as user research, wireframing, and prototyping using tools like Figma or Adobe XD. Build a portfolio by working on personal projects or volunteering to gain practical experience, and consider taking online courses or certifications to strengthen your knowledge and credibility in the field.

Is UX a dead field?

UX design is a growing and evolving field with high demand for skilled professionals who can improve user experiences across digital platforms. As technology advances, UX designers continue to play a vital role in product development, requiring skills in research, prototyping, and tools like Figma or Adobe XD.

Is UX getting replaced by AI?

As a Trainee UX Designer, AI tools can assist with tasks like user research and prototyping, but they do not replace the need for human-centered design, empathy, and critical thinking. UX design requires understanding user needs and behaviors that currently require human judgment, making AI a complement rather than a replacement. Developing skills in both UX principles and AI tools can enhance your effectiveness in the field.

Is UI/UX still in demand in 2026?

UI/UX design remains in high demand in 2026 as companies prioritize user-centered digital experiences. Trainee UX designers with skills in prototyping tools and user research are sought after across various industries, with growth driven by digital transformation and increasing online engagement.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a UX Designer in San Antonio, TX.
Overview:
UX (User Experience) Designers are responsible for improving the user's experience of using a product, such as making it easier to use and more enjoyable. This typically applies to computer hardware or software. A portfolio of previous work may be necessary to be hired for this position, and UX designers work with developers, analysts, and other designers to determine changes and preferences in the market.
UX Designers may design and create wireframes for products, as well as develop and test prototypes, and actual end-users are often used to determine whether a product can be used as intended. After testing is complete, modifications should be introduced and more testing will be carried out until the product reaches its best form. Much of this work is done on teams, though there are also individual responsibilities which include meeting time-constraints. After the product has been introduced to the market, it must then be evaluated for success and feedback from customers, and modifications may be made for future editions.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a computer-related field is generally required, though experience may be substituted for education in some cases
* Experience in Adobe Suite, HTML, CAD, and CSS is necessary for this position
* Demonstrated experience in UX design and visual design
* Demonstrated ability to work fluently in standard applications, including Figma, Sketch, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
* Demonstrated experience creating and delivering web, native and other digital applications
Additional Details:
* UX designers typically work full-time in an office, though some work on a freelance basis
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
