Job description

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar - Research Associate to join our ongoing studies on cancer genomics and Therapeutics. Recent Ph.D. graduates with a successful publication record in scholarly journals are encouraged to apply.
We are translational genomics and experimental therapeutics lab that focuses on identifying and investigating novel therapeutic targets in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and developing new therapeutic strategies.
We seek a highly motivated scientist proficient in using routine molecular biology techniques for genomics/epigenomic studies and functional studies in cellular and mouse models. Hands-on experience with high throughput assays and next-generation sequencing-based platforms, experience in preclinical studies using leukemia mouse models is required. In addition, the candidate should have a strong background in cancer biology, immunology and computational biology, bioinformatics, or biostatistics. Computational skills, including experience with bioinformatic tools and packages, are needed. Experience with data mining, especially for 'omics' datasets, or developing pipelines/software for large biological datasets is desired.
Responsibilities include a) Processing and analyses of clinical samples, b) Conducting cellular, molecular, and in vivo experiments for hypothesis-driven research, c) Performing computational and bioinformatic analyses; and d) Preparing presentations and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The applicant must have excellent organizational and communication skills. The individual should have experience with working in teams, as well as the ability to work independently. The postdoctoral trainees will be encouraged to submit their own fellowship and grant applications. The candidate will enjoy a highly collaborative environment as a part of the USC research community.
The annual salary for this position is $70,304.
