We are searching for a self-motivated individual who would enjoy being home-office based while educating customers on Commonwealth requirements and working with the public to keep all Pennsylvanians safe. As a Certification, Accreditation, and Licensing (CAL) Inspector Trainee, you will learn how to perform inspections for the enforcement of various laws and regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a CAL Inspector Trainee, you will conduct entry level training work to learn the technical and procedural actions used to determine compliance with Pennsylvania certification, accreditation, licensing, and work practice laws and regulations in the inspection and analysis of bedding, upholstery, and stuffed toys. You will attend training sessions and shadow CAL Inspectors to learn how to properly perform inspections. Successful completion of the trainee program may lead to promotion to a CAL Inspector.

Key functions of this position will include: Assisting in inspecting asbestos abatement project sites. Assisting in inspecting lead abatement project sites. Assisting in auditing asbestos and lead abatement training providers.

Assisting in inspecting retail and secondhand locations selling bedding and upholstered furniture items. Assisting in inspecting retail locations selling stuffed toy articles. Assisting in preparing reports of inspection and audit findings.

Communicating effectively with stake holders and the public. Interested in learning more. Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time, home-headquartered employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in building maintenance or construction, workplace safety or inspection, retail sales, or customer service; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: You must possess an active motor vehicle license. You must obtain a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker training course completion certificate, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker training course completion certificate, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities inspector training course completion certificate within the probationary period.

Other Requirements: You must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties by date of hire: Centre, Union, Lycoming, Clinton, Snyder, Montour, or Northumberland.
