About this Job
Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist 1-3 to join our team! We are a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. We offer a wide range of services, including general surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. At Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, we are able to bring you a wide range of services close to home, provided by a network of board certified physicians.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent in this position will perform a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests with emphasis on recognizing and resolving problems and requiring the application of interpretive judgment at LSU Health-Lallie Kemp Medical Center. This position will be required to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist license plus one of the following:
A bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science; OR
A bachelor's degree in a biological, physical, or chemical science plus one year of experience as a medical technologist.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
  • Performs CAP inspections as required for Accreditation.
  • Maintains Lead Tech duties in the absence of Department Supervisors at Lallie Kemp and helps phlebotomists, techs, and all staff with any questions.
  • Monitors and reviews all operations on Molecular Testing on the Cepheid analyzer, including maintenance, quality control, writing policies, and re-stocking of supplies. Notifying manager of any needs.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance and trouble-shoots all equipment used when malfunctions occur.
  • Perform routine and advanced diagnostic laboratory tests in the following areas: Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Bacteriology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Parasitology, and Serology. Perform testing without direct supervision.
  • Responsible for working all shifts.
  • Perform laboratory test on patients of all ages.
  • In the absence of supervisor, assume duties. Any and all other related duties as assigned to include ensuring departmental coverage for other staff.

About this job: The Medical Laboratory Technologist 1, 2 or 3 is a Career Progression Group (CPG). The level of hire depends on the level of experience. Please make sure to list all work history and detailed job duties on the application.Work Location: This Medical Laboratory Technologist 1-3 position is located in the Pathology Department.Work Hours: Shift will be determined by the department Manager.
Shift Differentials: In addition to Base Pay, Shift Pay and Certification pay is included only when working.
The incumbent shall possess and maintain a valid BLS certification from American Heart Association before appointment.
