Job description

 Revit Designer

Job Summary:

Job duties will include providing drafting support to engineers and designers throughout the engineering design process. Work will primarily focus on Autodesk Revit (BIM) model and AutoCAD drawing development of construction drawing packages based on various datasets and engineer input, completing engineer markups during the design process, preparing design concepts, completing as-built drawings and the creation or modification of details. Responsibilities may also include performing in-field walk-downs of equipment/facilities, verifying existing conditions of sites and facilities prior to new design efforts, and compiling data.

Work will be conducted mostly in the Space Coast Area of Florida (Brevard County). Travel to other locations for projects may be required but will be limited.

Responsibilities:

This position combines advanced engineering technology expertise with leadership in design integration, quality assurance, and client engagement. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, with demonstrated experience producing and coordinating complex design and construction documents, integrating non-Autodesk native files into BIM workflows, and multidisciplinary project delivery. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to guide project teams through complex design challenges while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Work assignments are highly varied and require flexibility, initiative, and versatility across the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and drafting disciplines. Experience with additional building systems, including communications, fire alarm, and fire protection, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide MEP drafting and design support for new construction, renovation, and facility modification projects at Levels of Development (LOD) 200, 300, and 350.
  • Develop and coordinate site and facility MEP design and construction documents within the BIM model environment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with layouts, equipment plans, piping/ductwork, riser diagrams, schedules, details, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Initiate BIM model setup using company-provided Revit templates, including creating views and sheets, copying/monitoring grids and levels, and ensuring accurate model alignment, coordination, and documentation with architectural and structural backgrounds.
  • Apply customer-supplied drafting standards, parameters, project-specific requirements, documentation guidelines, and BIM Execution Plan (BxP) requirements to maintain consistency, compliance, and BIM deliverables.
  • Import, convert, optimize, and coordinate non-Autodesk 3D files within Revit, including manipulation of imported geometry to support BIM workflows, design coordination, and construction documentation.
  • Support BIM coordination and clash detection by identifying, documenting, and resolving conflicts between MEP systems and architectural, structural, and other building disciplines using Revit and/or Navisworks.
  • Develop, update, and maintain MEP details, equipment schedules, panel schedules, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, and other system documentation under the direction of project engineers.
  • Produce accurate record drawings using contractor redlines, Requests for Information (RFIs), as-built documentation, field verification, and engineer input.
  • Lead and perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of BIM models and design and construction documents to ensure compliance with company modeling and drafting standards and client-specific drafting requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers, drafters and other by providing modeling guidance, training, and support on Revit standards, modeling best practices, and project workflows.
  • Coordinate closely with engineers, architects, vendors and clients to ensure technical accuracy and successful project execution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD, with experience working in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)/BIM 360 environments.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM standards, workflows, construction documentation practices, and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Experience producing MEP construction documents for commercial, institutional, industrial, and government facilities.
  • Lead and oversee inter-office drafting and BIM modeling efforts by directing cross-office project teams, coordinating project-specific BIM standards and workflows, and ensuring the consistent application of modeling practices across all team members.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated building systems, with the ability to interpret engineering design intent and translate it into accurate construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), project-specific standards, and digital collaboration requirements.
  • Strong organizational, proactive communication, and problem-solving skills, supporting the management of multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail, including identifying discrepancies in drawings, models, documentation, and project information.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Adaptable and able to respond efficiently to changing project requirements, priorities, and direction throughout the workday.

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu for PDF markup, document review, collaboration, and construction document workflows.
  • Practical knowledge of third-party 3D modeling software, including PTC Creo, SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, or similar platforms.
  • Previous experience in developing drafting and BIM project proposals, including preparing detailed scopes of work, defining project assumptions and exclusions, and developing accurate labor effort estimates based on client requirements, project specifications, project schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk ReCap Pro for importing, registering, and managing laser scan point cloud data to support BIM modeling and coordination workflows.
  • Experience conducting field laser scanning and collecting accurate reality capture data for Scan-to-BIM projects.

  • Educational Background: AS in Drafting and Design (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 years of drafting/design experience working with Revit and AutoCAD with specific experience in application for development of MEP construction drawing packages. Refer to prior sections for detailed experience and application requirements.  
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Autodesk Revit (2020-26 versions) including understanding and experience in application of the following:
      • Initiating BIM models using company-provided templates.
      • Applying coordinate systems within BIM models using project-specific information.
      • Modification and creation of MEP Revit families.
      • Incorporating point cloud scan files into BIM models for existing conditions and coordination purposes.
      • Applying and utilizing parameters within Revit models and families.
      • Converting and utilizing non-native file formats for use within Revit models.
      • Creating and manipulating schedules within Revit models.
    • Experience and proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (2023-26 versions) including understanding and experience in application of the following:
      • Creating and managing sheet sets, applying custom dynamic fields.
      • Application and understanding of the National CAD Standards (NCS), including layer management, symbols, linetypes, text styles, and dimension styles.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and email platforms.
    • Ability to perform constructive and efficient quality control reviews to ensure compliance with project design standards and client-specific drafting requirements.
    • Familiarity with applicable codes and industry standards

Work Authorization / Security Clearance:

  • Must be a US Citizen for Security Clearance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a clearance from the Defense Security Service and other Federal Government Agencies.

Work Environment:

  • Most work is performed in an office environment with potential for ability to perform site visits which may include active construction sites.
  • If working remotely, provide a working environment that is conducive to meeting / phone call attendance and participation without interruptions.

Location:

This position will be filled through our Merritt Island, FL office. A hybrid work environment is anticipated with a balance of working from the office (in person) and from home (remote). Fully remote will be considered for highly qualified candidates.  

Travel:

Up to 10%. Willingness to travel to project locations.

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $80,000-$95,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
