Job description

Position Title: AV Technician Trainee

Location: Local Travel Only (Metro Detroit Area)

Schedule: Standard Daytime Hours

Company: Atlas Tech

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Who We’re Looking For

You’re the kind of person who shows up ready to learn and does whatever it takes to grow. You don’t need experience with Crestron or Lutron yet – just grit, reliability, and the drive to build a skilled trade in commercial AV. This is a ground-floor opportunity with real growth potential for someone who takes pride in their work, follows through, and wants to be part of something being built the right way.

If you’re dependable, curious, and not afraid to ask questions, this might be your seat.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the installation of commercial AV systems (racks, displays, cabling, devices)
  • Run, label, and dress low-voltage cabling for audio, video, control, and lighting
  • Shadow senior technicians and programmers to learn Crestron, Lutron, and related platforms
  • Keep tools organized, sites clean, and equipment protected during installs
  • Take initiative to study, ask questions, and steadily increase your AV knowledge

What You Bring

  • Basic mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (car audio, electrical, or related work is a plus)
  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Strong attention to detail and a good attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions, retain what you learn, and work safely
  • Willingness to get certified over time (we’ll support you)

Nice to Have

A background in low-voltage, AV, construction, or electronics is helpful but not required. What matters most is that you’re dependable, eager to learn, and ready to own your development.

This Role Isn’t for You If

You want to coast. You don’t take feedback well. You struggle with follow-through. This is a role where hustle, curiosity, and consistency matter more than what’s on your resume.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • You’ll learn a skilled trade from professionals who want to invest in you
  • You’ll get clear direction and honest feedback
  • You’ll be trusted to grow and take on more when you’re ready
  • We take pride in the work, but never lose the humanity

Certifications Preferred

None, but Crestron Core Certification will be expected within 18 months

Education

High school diploma or GED required
