Job description

GENERAL FUNCTION:C-SPAN distributes a wide range of content including live coverage of government proceedings, public affairs programming, educational resources and original productions. C-SPAN is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Multimedia Content Creator & Promotions Producer to join our Creative Services team. This role is focused on developing promotional content that highlights and elevates C-SPAN programming and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a versatile storyteller with strong skills in writing, video editing and graphic design - someone who can translate C-SPAN programming into compelling promotions that engage audiences across television, radio, digital and social media platforms.As part of Creative Services, you'll bring campaigns and promotions to life - whether it's producing on-air promotional spots, creating eye-catching motion graphics or crafting high-profile campaigns that strengthen and showcase the C-SPAN brand. RESPONSIBILITIES:Produces and distributes promotional content across C-SPAN's public affairs television networks, website, social media channels, streaming platforms and mobile apps.Produces video packages for promotional and corporate purposes, with responsibilities including scriptwriting, b-roll selection, music integration and graphic design, edited within Adobe Creative Suite.Creates engaging promotional vertical videos for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, tailored to platform best practices.Designs static and motion graphics for television, digital and print campaigns. Partners with Affiliate Relations, Marketing and Research teams to develop, create and deliver high-impact collateral and advertising content.Works closely with editorial teams to identify timely political and public affairs moments for rapid promotional turnarounds.Develops and produces promotional content that builds and engages audiences while reinforcing the brand's identity, voice and values across all platforms.Manages project calendars and workflows, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.Manages content scheduling, archiving and maintenance into newsroom software and cloud storage systems.Monitors industry trends and emerging technologies to bring fresh, innovative approaches to content production. Other duties as assigned.BACKGROUND SKILLS:Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign. Generic graphic design experience preferred.Proven ability to analyze research findings and transform insights into on-brand campaigns that support organizational goals.Experience using AI tools for editing, captioning and voice/narration such as AI Studios, ChatGPT & Custom GPTs, Jasper AI, Canva AI / Adobe Firefly and ElevenLabs to enhance and streamline content creation.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables.Ability to present creative work at all stages for review, feedback and approval.Strong editorial judgment and familiarity with federal government, national politics, non-fiction literature and American history.Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.Minimum two years of professional experience in multimedia production or content creation. Prior newsroom experience is a plus.Proficiency in Canva, Mondays, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok Twitter/X).Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with a portfolio showcasing video production, editing and graphic design work.Willingness to work a hybrid schedule, including four days per week on-site at our Washington, D.C. headquarters.
