Job description

Position Title: Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Department: Pharmacy
Supervisor: Pharmacy Director (primary); Lead Pharmacy Technician (secondary)
Hours per week: 40 hours
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Primary Function:
Work as Pharmacy Technician in training.
Duties & Responsibilities:
โ€ข Learn how to process new prescription and fill medications.
โ€ข Learn how to appropriately bill patient's insurances, and how to communicate with insurance company to resolve prior authorizations and Drug Utilization Reviews (DURs).
โ€ข Learn how to appropriately utilize Pharmacy computer software.
โ€ข Learn about Pharmacy P&Ps about 340B compliance.
โ€ข Learn how to use Epic (Verify all outside prescriptions in EPIC for 340B Compliance).
โ€ข Learn how to appropriately calculate date supply on different types of preparations (tablets/capsules, inhalers, topical, injectable, etc.)
โ€ข Answer phone calls and process patients' refills.
โ€ข Update and verify patients' information.
โ€ข Create new patients' profile.
โ€ข Stock shelves with supplies, take inventory, and put orders away.
โ€ข Maintain patient records.
โ€ข Offer every client the opportunity to ask questions to the pharmacist regarding his or her medication. Refer all patient concerns or complaints to the pharmacist on duty for resolution.
โ€ข Assist Pharmacist with Clinical Care Management (MTMs and Mirixa cases).
โ€ข Perform monthly internal audits for 340B compliance.
โ€ข Verify Mass Pat for all Controlled Substance Prescriptions.
โ€ข Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor or as required by the position. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change due to business needs at any time with or without previous notice.
Minimum Basic Knowledge:
โ€ข High school diploma or its equivalent (GED).
Experience & Qualifications:
โ€ข Attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
โ€ข Good math skills.
โ€ข Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
โ€ข Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
โ€ข Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish, Portuguese/Cape Verdean, French/Haitian Creole highly desirable.
โ€ข Ability to work days, nights and some Saturdays.

None
Define Access Level to PHI: Level 3: Authorized to access only certain limited categories of PHI and certain limited sections of the UCHC patient's medical record that are necessary to perform job duties, whether treatment, payment or operations duties. Staff in this category level should confine the use of PHI to the minimum necessary required and should not access or read parts of the medical record not needed to perform assigned duties.
