Job description

Position Summary
The Electrical Trainee supports the installation of residential solar and battery storage systems by assisting Foremen and Electricians with a variety of electrical and construction-related tasks. This position provides technical and hands-on support in the field, working closely with installation crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Responsibilities include assisting with electrical work, equipment installation, and other project needs while developing industry knowledge and technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the installation of electrical systems that connect residential solar and energy storage systems to the utility grid.
Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying, diagnosing, and helping resolve electrical and system performance issues.
Assemble and install solar racking systems, mounting equipment, and photovoltaic (PV) modules as assigned.
Perform site preparation activities, including trenching, concrete work, material handling, and equipment assembly.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including project sites, tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail while maintaining a focus on safety, quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
Follow and promote OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and industry best practices related to photovoltaic and electrical installations.
Foster positive working relationships and effective communication with installation team members, supervisors, and branch personnel.
Support project completion by assisting with a variety of installation, maintenance, and operational tasks as needed.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on delivering high-quality installations and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry, including at least one year of hands-on solar installation experience.
Experience working with electrical systems and wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to meet company driving requirements.
State electrical trainee certification, license, or equivalent credential preferred, based on local requirements.
Ability to perform the duties of both Installer and Lead Installer roles when needed to support project completion.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety practices, and applicable industry standards.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
Willingness and ability to travel periodically to support project and operational needs (up to 5% travel).
Employment Type & Compensation
