The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a full-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Cook I.
Proposed Schedule Includes:
5:30am - 2:00pm shifts
Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)

Summary:
To assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods following state and federal guidelines at the NH Veterans Home.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: 8th grade education
License/Certification: None
Other Requirements:
1. Must be able and willing to wear a hairnet.
2. Must be able and willing to adhere to all hygiene-related standards for the food industry.
3. Ability to work while standing and under conditions of high temperature and humidity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
2. Knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of large-scale food preparation, food service and related activities including health hazards in food service and the necessary precautionary measures.
3. Knowledge of the care and use of food service implements and equipment.
4. Ability to read and follow recipes and special directions.
5. Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (STANDARD): None
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Assists in training Food Service Workers.
Plans daily tasks assignments for food service workers
Works with Food Service Director in planning new food delivery programs.
Sanitizes and cleans work surface areas after each task.
Assists in food preparation according to amounts needed; follows approved recipes and menus.
Cleans kitchen and cooking utensils; inspects cooking equipment for cleanliness and proper functional operation.
