Research Associate I: High-Throughput Screening

Boston, MA

$30-40/hr

The Research Associate I will primarily work within the autonomous lab, running the plate-based screens and selections that let us evaluate thousands of engineered strains at a time.


Research Associate I Responsibilities:

  • Execute high-throughput screens and selections using the autonomous lab’s liquid-handling robotics and integrated detection instrumentation.
  • Translate assigned screening protocols into automated, code-driven workflows under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Develop and optimize cultivation conditions and assays suited to automated execution.
  • Test screening performance, troubleshoot failed or inconsistent runs, and fl ag anomalies for root-cause investigation.
  • Maintain accurate records of screening data and protocols compatible with the lab’s automated data pipelines.


Research Associate I Requirements:

  • BS in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical or biological engineering, or similar.
  • Comfort working in, or strong interest in learning to work in, an automated, high-throughput, robotics-driven laboratory environment, including software- and code-driven workflows.
  • Prior experience with plate-based assays and/or automated liquid handling a plus.
  • Prior experience using automated workflows and associated software a plus.
  • Prior experience transitioning traditional, low-throughput cloning methods into robust, high-throughput pipelines capable of generating and tracking thousands of engineered microbial strains is a plus.
