Job description

We’re now hiring a Heavy Wrecker Operator at Eitels Towing Service Inc in Orient, Ohio!

  • Pay: Starting at $26/hour, offer dependent on experience

What are we looking for?

  • Valid Class A Driver’s License is required.
  • Safe driving record and DOT score required.
  • Travel required 95% of the time. Overnight stays may be necessary 20% of the time.

Typical day in the life as a Heavy Wrecker Operator :

  • Operates heavy duty wrecker truck (single or tandem axle).
  • Rights overturned vehicles with use of boom and/or power winch
  • Rigs various vehicles to be righted or towed using procedures.
  • Tows vehicles to designated locations.
  • Stays aware of overhead conditions during operation of truck.
  • Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Reads maps and follows written or verbal geographic directions.
  • Plans or adjusts routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Checks vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; and reports issues to the appropriate person.
  • Follows appropriate safety procedures for transporting vehicles.
  • Educates themselves on weight restrictions and distribution and stays up to date on updates regarding DOT regulations.
  • Ensures proper coupling and inspects all trailers.
  • Performs vehicle pre and post inspections.
  • Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Completes inspection logs.
  • Fills truck with fuel at the end of each workday.
  • Cleans cab and beds of truck out daily.
