Well-designed roadways lead to quick commutes while poor designs can result in confusion, collisions, or even fatalities. HEI has a diverse history of successful roadway projects, both rural and urban, that provide lasting value to their communities. On a daily basis, our team sees roadway projects through every stage of development, from conception to construction.
We are seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation-Roadway team in our Eden Prairie office. This role is intended for an individual with 0-3 years of prior experience in transportation engineering that has a passion for work involving highway design, project development, utility coordination, and construction observation. Our Graduate Engineers receive ongoing mentorship and guidance from experienced civil engineers as they grow into their career. Job Description
  • Collaborate on a team of engineers in all phases of project development with preliminary and detailed design of rural and urban roadways and bridges for City, County, state and federal clients
  • Assist project teams with the development of geometric design, plans, specifications, estimates, presentations and technical reports
  • Complete onsite construction observation during construction phases of projects
  • Represent Houston Engineering, Inc in communications with clients, contractors, landowners and public entities

Qualifications
  • An ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering degree
  • Completion of the FE exam and Engineer-In-Training registration, or ability to obtain within six months of the employment start date
  • Prior experience developing or working with construction profiles, plans and specifications related to transportation engineering
  • Prior experience operating industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and/or Open Roads
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future. Sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
