We are a dynamic aerospace manufacturing company dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for our customers. Our team is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and efficiency in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer. The Project Engineer I is a key manufacturing role responsible for researching, designing, implementing and testing the manufacturing process of key parts and assemblies. Requires technical knowledge of machining processes, a strong understanding of the drivers of manufacturing profitability, a willingness to attempt new processes, good communication skills, and a continuous product improvement mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work from prints/models to develop CNC milling or turning processes.
  • Create documentation to support the machining process including set-up sheets and inspection plans.
  • Optimize processes for stability and equipment utilization.
  • Document set-up sheets, work instructions and tool lists.
  • Debug and troubleshoot set ups, programs, tooling and process issues.
  • Work on special projects to improve processes, tooling as well as drive zero-setup direction.
  • Work with cross-functional teams of operations, automation engineers, CNC programmers, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Implement process improvements, troubleshoot process problems, driving to root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Execute process improvement plans using a variety of Quality & Continuous Process Improvement tools, including, but not limited to, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, and engineering studies.
  • Leading Kaizen events to reach clearly set targets with high performing team engagement.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Key Roles
  • Create and/or update manufacturing processes for stability and equipment utilization
  • Utilize in-house expertise to assist with manufacturing optimization
  • Document new processes and changes for repeatable manufacturability
  • Analyze processes to identify and reduce waste

Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements:
1-3 years of experience on a manufacturing team specializing in the programming and operation of CNC Machines, and a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or 12-24 months as a Project Engineer Trainee at Acutec, or a combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge in the operation, setup, and programming of CNC machining processes.
  • Familiar with the interpretation of GD&T with blueprint reading skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with inspection practices of machined components.
  • Ability to present technical information and effectively communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in data analysis, simulation, and CAD / CAM software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work either independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent people skills, 'on the shop floor' attitude.
  • Understanding of work instructions and document change control, process verification and validation methodologies, and manufacturing / production process control methodologies.
  • Change agent with energy, passion, and enthusiasm to drive change.
