Job Summary
Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician Trainee
S.A. Comunale is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician Trainee. The primary function of this role is to have an interest in becoming an Alarm Technician and gain knowledge and experience in training with Alarm Technicians. This candidate will also have to eventually obtain their Ohio Fire Alarm license and NICET I Certification.
This is a three-year training program position that requires travel.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Train with Alarm Technicians on all basic installations.
  • Develop an understanding of how each device works and the proper installation for all.
  • Attend a basic fire alarm class and an advanced fire alarm class through Nafed or AFAA.
  • Complete all training modules assigned in a professional and timely manner.
  • Learn and understand the basics of installing, troubleshooting, and programming both a conventional and addressable fire alarm.
  • Eventually be able to install/service a fire alarm with little to no supervision.
  • Attend a NFPA 72 Basics code class.
  • Eventually gain advanced knowledge with conventional fire alarm systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and program Fire Alarm, Access Control, Nurse Call Intrusion, Sound, CCTV, and IP Video Systems.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, such as Work Tickets and Inspection and/or Deficiency Reports, for all service calls and inspections.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Provide detailed oral and written feedback to management concerning customer issues.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Participate in department on-call rotation and work flexible hours as required.
  • Ability to work on low voltage systems.
  • Willing & able to eventually obtain their Ohio Fire Alarm license.
  • During third year complete NICET level 1 certification.

Education / Work Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or industry trade school is a plus.
  • Strong background in electronics or similar experience required.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.
  • Able to lift equipment and tools up to 40 pounds required.

Computer Skills:
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications is required.
