Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000

Position Summary:
The Statistical Analyst/Programmer in the Center for Biostatistics & Epidemiology, LKSOM will provide statistical programming, research consultation, and educational support to faculty and trainees. General direction and oversight will be provided by the Center Director and faculty. The overall position responsibilities focus on provision of comprehensive statistical support, specifically related to design and implementation of studies, collection and management of study data, analysis and interpretation of statistical data for clinical trials, retrospective studies, epidemiological, and bioinformatics-related research, and summarization of study results for publication. The incumbent will provide independent statistical consultations for trainees, and will serve as senior programmer to support faculty research collaborations.
Required Education and Experience:
* Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or a related field and at least one year of experience with statistical analysis and/or statistical programming in a medical research field using SAS or Stata. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Required Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrated ability to make independent biostatistical judgments and decisions.
* Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
* Demonstrated computer skills in SAS, MS Office and related database software.
* Must be able to work independently and in a team environment while handling diverse tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere.
* Must be highly organized with strong detail orientation, and have demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience:
* PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics or another related field.
* Three to five years of experience in statistical consulting role; additional experience with SQL, Stata, EPIC, REDCap , R, other statistical packages, and MS Access.
Essential Duties:
* Independently advise in the planning and analysis of study protocols, including assisting with development of clear research objectives and outcome measurements
* Meet with trainees to provide advice related to complex data preparation and management needs, research question specification, programs design and testing
* Independently develop, conduct and interpret descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including both univariate and multivariable techniques, for investigational study data from faculty and trainees
* Customize and test data collection tools, including database entry systems such as REDCap and MS Access, for specific study applications
* Assist with correcting data errors, and maintain documentation in a database for easy referencing to ensure consistency in the decision-making process
* Develop statistical program specifications per direction of senior faculty, and modify programs as necessary to assure application of appropriate statistical analysis techniques
* Collaborate with faculty in analysis of large datasets including combining and transforming data from platforms such as EPIC or CMS into analytical databases
* Develop and implement standardized quality and logic checks to validate data accuracy, and conduct basic statistical analyses
* Offer solutions and suggestions to optimize the scope and precision of statistical results and the strategy for dissemination such as submission and presentation of conference abstracts or posters and manuscript preparation for publication
* Provide technical support to department faculty, staff and students regarding software issues as needed.
* Performs other duties as assigned
