Description

American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Sonographer for an outpatient clinic setting, requiring ARDMS registration (or registry eligibility) in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular technology.

Details
  • Outpatient sonography/ultrasound clinic setting
  • Performs diagnostic imaging for adult and pediatric patients
  • Day shift schedule with start times between 7:00-8:30 AM, Monday-Friday
  • 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
  • 13-week assignment
  • May include in/outpatient, portable, OR, and PACU imaging
  • Performs specialized studies including Shear Wave Elastography (SWE), Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), and 3D image acquisition
  • Exposure to Non-Imaging Vascular (NIV), Musculoskeletal (MSK), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Prostate Ultrasound, and CT/PET/MRI fusion studies is advantageous
  • Uses PACS for image storage/retrieval and EPIC for EHR charting
  • Overtime, on-call, weekends, overnights, and holiday shifts required per department needs
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field and graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • ARDMS registration (or registry eligible) required in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular technology (RVT)
  • Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARDMS registration in abdomen within 6 months, OB/GYN within 12 months, and RVT within 18 months of employment
  • BLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross), or obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an ultrasound setting
  • Active license required if applicable
  • Proficient in Abdomen (including transplanted organs), OB/GYN, Small Parts, Vascular (including grafts, incompetency exams, mapping), and Pediatric ultrasound
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and medical professionals
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise critical thinking and judgment
  • Able to stand, walk, and push equipment for extended periods
  • Able to lift or assist with lifting patients using mechanical lifting devices
  • Knowledge of isolation precaution techniques and personal protective equipment use
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Autonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures under physician supervision for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease
  • Confirms imaging orders by reviewing patient history and clinical data
  • Assists radiologists in recording and processing anatomical, pathological, and physiological sonographic data and images
  • Provides preliminary diagnosis and communicates findings to radiologists and residents
  • Prepares, injects, and documents Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) as indicated
  • Assists physicians with lesion localization and probe placement during ablation procedures
  • Creates anatomical maps of lymph nodes/nodules for surgical planning
  • Reprocesses transducers using High Level Disinfectant
  • Complies with HIPAA, Joint Commission Standards, and Safe Patient Handling requirements
  • May be involved in ACR and IAC accreditation processes
  • Assists in training of trainees and may receive additional training in sub-specialty areas
  • Follows MRI and radiation safety standards
  • Encouraged to participate in professional development, including case presentations and department committees
  • COVID vaccination and booster required
