NETWORK ENGINEER Systems Engineering Department Test Area C-3, Eglin AFB, FL Open Position Request Number R-HH-26 CLASSIFICATION: Network Engineer; Salary Range TBD GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time LOCATION: Test Area C-3 , Eglin AFB, FL POSTING DATE: Available to Internal and External Applicants (7/07/2026) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization. Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Reporting network operational status by gathering prioritizing information; managing projects. Tracking Budget Expenses, Project Management, Problem Solving, LAN Knowledge, Proxy Servers, Networking Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Performance Tuning, People Management GENERAL DUTIES: * Will receive escalations from Network Administrators or "Provide tier-3 network support". * Will assist in training and coaching of Network Administrators. * Successful candidates will be administering Local Area Networks (LAN) and Secure Internet Protocol Networks (SIPRNET) equipment such as TACLANES and IPSEC Tunnels. * Job includes implementing new network operating systems, hardware and software, developing Wide Area Network (WAN) operating procedures, configuring, installing and maintaining network systems to include the LAN/WAN. * Professional level certifications desirable, such as: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent, Juniper Networks Certified Internetwork Professional (JNCIP), or equivalent, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PNCSE), or equivalent. * Must be able to work a flexible work schedule due to operational support requirements. Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Will continue to provide mission support when needed. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires associate-level computing environment certification, or higher; eg CCNA, JNCIA, PCNSA, and minimum of 2 years prefer 6 or more years of experience in network administration. DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II baseline security certification, or higher within six months of start date; e.g. Security+ certification. Experience with Cisco Routers and Switches is mandatory. Demonstrated experience and/or working knowledge of Vlans, interior routing protocols, 802.1X, Cisco ISE, Solarwinds, Palo Alto firewalls as well as network management and IP management is desired. Must be able to perform network maintenance as well as research and implement new systems. DoD Information Assurance experience a plus specifically in the areas of IAVA and STIG evaluation, network security, application and management. Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills are essential. Requires the ability to read and interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required as well as well-developed skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential. Requires the ability to read and interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule due to operational support requirements. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement initiatives. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Travels between Eglin AFB and Test Site C-3. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires standing, sitting, bending and some lifting or moving of objects.
