Job Description:
R.J. Corman's My Old Kentucky Dinner Train is hiring Servers in Bardstown, KY.
Accountability: Serve our guests with the highest priority.
Responsibilities:
  • Practice and preach "Safety is our priority".
  • Adhere to meticulous safety and customer service standards, including proper uniform use, service techniques, and dining car setup.
  • Make customer satisfaction the highest priority.
  • Follow local, state, and federal alcohol laws.
  • Ensure the point-of-sale system is operational and all items are entered correctly; safeguard cash.
  • Keep all server stations stocked and cleaned at all times.
  • Reconcile cash and tips at the end of shift.
  • Clean tables and area at the end of a run; setup for the next run.
  • Perform table setup prior to runs.
  • Polish all glassware, flatware, and dinnerware.
  • Greet customers and help with their boarding; thank customers and help them depart.
  • During the runs, handle customer needs (order taking, drink refills, serving food, etc.).
  • Upsell items (alcohol, appetizers, etc.).
  • Work with Nicholasville on special events.
  • Cross-trained to work in the Gift Shop as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instruction.
  • Minimum one years' experience as a server.
  • Experience with POS system.

Physical Requirements: Bending at the waist; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to read a variety of materials; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment and utensils, balancing on a moving train. Ability to regularly and correctly lift and transport objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Environmental Conditions: Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours with appropriate mobility and endurance. Ability to work flexible time periods as required of a server in a diverse environment. The ability to work on a moving train. Requires the ability to maintain total confidentiality of guest personal and payment information. Must be trusted to handle large sums of cash.
Job Dimensions: Performs with substantial degree of independence under general supervision.
