What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a trailer transport driver?

To thrive as a Trailer Transport Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), knowledge of transportation regulations, and safe driving practices. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic vehicle maintenance tools is important. Strong time management, attention to detail, and effective communication enhance reliability and customer service. These skills ensure the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of goods over long distances, which is crucial for logistics operations.

What is trailer transport?

Trailer transport refers to the process of moving trailers, which are often unpowered vehicles used for hauling goods, from one location to another. This service is commonly used in logistics and freight industries to relocate empty or loaded trailers between warehouses, distribution centers, or job sites. Specialized trucks, called tractor units or semi-trucks, are typically used to tow these trailers. Trailer transport can involve local, regional, or long-distance routes and often requires coordination to ensure timely and safe delivery.

What are some common challenges faced in a trailer transport role, and how can I prepare for them?

Trailer transport professionals often encounter challenges such as navigating long distances, managing unpredictable weather conditions, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Additionally, time management is crucial, as meeting delivery deadlines while adhering to hours-of-service regulations can be demanding. Preparing for these challenges involves staying updated on industry regulations, developing strong route-planning skills, and maintaining open communication with dispatchers and clients to handle unexpected delays effectively.

About PoshPrivy

For over 15 years, PoshPrivy has set the gold standard for luxury mobile restrooms in Middle Tennessee. Based in Franklin, TN, we specialize in providing high-end, climate-controlled restroom trailers for VIP weddings, corporate galas, community traditions, and professional film productions. From historic venues in downtown Franklin to large-scale Nashville events, our fleet is defined by a "white-glove" standard of cleanliness, elegance, and reliability.

Position Overview

Are you skilled at maneuvering and backing trailers? Do you enjoy hands-on, active work outdoors rather than being stuck behind a desk from 9-to-5?

We are looking for a reliable, skilled Non-CDL Trailer Transport Specialist & Field Technician to join our team ahead of our peak fall event season. This role focuses on delivering, setting up, maintaining, and retrieving our fleet of luxury restroom trailers across Middle Tennessee.

Because PoshPrivy is growing rapidly, this position offers a direct path for advancement into an Operations Manager role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport & Delivery: Safely tow, maneuver, and back luxury restroom trailers into various event spaces, driveways, and venues using company trucks.

  • On-Site Setup: Position and level trailers, connect water and electrical lines, deploy entry steps/railings, and perform final quality checks before client use.

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform basic fleet maintenance (plumbing, electrical, towing gear, light mechanical repairs, and routine inspections) to keep equipment in pristine condition.

  • Client Representation: Provide professional, polite interaction with venue managers, event planners, and clients on-site.

  • Post-Event Retrieval: Break down equipment safely and return units to our Franklin lot.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Towing Expertise (Required): Advanced skill and comfort towing, maneuvering, and backing up pull-behind trailers in tight or high-traffic spaces. (No CDL required, but a clean driving record is mandatory).

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Hands-on experience or working knowledge in one or more areas: RV plumbing/electrical systems, basic diesel or automotive maintenance, handyman skills, or general equipment repair.

  • Reliability & Independence: Strong time-management skills with the ability to work independently, follow schedules, and solve problems on-site with good judgment.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings, during our peak event months (September–December).

  • Professional Demeanor: Friendly, trustworthy, and presentable when representing our luxury brand to high-end clients and venues.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 / hour (based on experience).

  • Guaranteed Hours During Training: Paid 1-month training and evaluation period with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours/week.

  • Path to Salary & Promotion: Fast-track opportunity to transition to a full-time salaried position and advance into Operations Manager supervising fleet operations.

  • Health Insurance Reimbursement: Fixed health reimbursement allowance provided each pay period.

  • Paid Time Off: Flexible PTO and paid sick leave accommodations.

  • Workers' Compensation: Full coverage provided.
