Join the MVT Team!!! Mesilla Valley Transportation is now hiring Trailer Technicians in Laredo, Texas!
The Trailer Technician III repairs and maintains trailers to ensure operational efficiency and compliance,
achieving recognition for key support within the team and promptly resolving issues as they arise under
management direction.
Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday 3:30pm-12:00 am
Responsibilities:
  • Inspects and repairs trailers in accordance with company/OEM standards.
  • Perform DOT and general inspections.
  • Ensures equipment is functioning properly and within Department of Transportation compliance.
  • Inspects and cleans parts; submits orders if a part must be replaced.
  • Confirms proper function of equipment after repair is completed.
  • Troubleshoots electrical/mechanical malfunctions on all components of the trailer.
  • Repairs trailer damages to panels, doors, hinges, floor, and axles.
  • Repairs/Replace tires according to company guidelines for PSI, wear, and tread depth.
  • Performs general fleet maintenance on trailers to include lights, air brakes, wheel ends, suspension, and miscellaneous other repairs.
  • Ability to make any kind of trailer repair-electrical, mechanical, or damage.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate to make necessary repairs.
  • Replace suspension assemblies and axle bushings.
  • Utilize tools to reduce downtime and increase effectiveness.
  • Documents work completed to include 3Cs and notes in the company maintenance software.
  • Assists Trailer Supervisor with other functions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years or more years' experience in mechanic experience and/or training.
  • Trailer Mechanic must be DOT certified.
  • Licensed Mechanic Journeyman preferred.
Work Environment:
• Indoor and Outdoor environment.
• Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions
including direct sunlight & heat.
• Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and extreme heat.
• Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic
or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
