Job description

Description: Position SummaryThe Mountain Bike Trail Crew Member performs hands-on construction and maintenance across the trail network. The role combines technical trail work, safe tool use, environmental stewardship, documentation, and guest interaction in remote and physically demanding terrain.Essential Duties

· Construct, shape, repair, and maintain natural-surface trails, drainage systems, berms, rollers, jumps, rock features, bridges, signage, and related infrastructure according to approved plans and crew direction.

· Perform tread work including excavation, grading, compaction, armoring, vegetation clearing, erosion control, drainage cleaning, and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.

· Inspect assigned trails and features; identify erosion, instability, sightline, drainage, vegetation, signage, and user-safety concerns; document and escalate issues that exceed authority or training.

· Operate and maintain hand tools and approved power equipment.

· Support trail openings, closures, reroutes, event preparation, and post-weather recovery; install and maintain barricades and warning signs as directed.

· Travel to remote work zones by foot, bicycle, utility vehicle, or lift as authorized.

· Use tactful guest communication to explain closures, alternate routes, trail etiquette, and operational conditions.

Requirements:

  Qualifications

  • Basic experience with outdoor labor, landscaping, construction, forestry, trail work, or a comparable physically demanding role.
  • Ability to use common hand tools safely after training and to learn trail-building techniques and inspection procedures.
  • Experience operating compactersw, chainsaws, brush cutters, mini-excavators, skid steers, or utility vehicles with role-appropriate training or credentials.

Working Conditions

  • Requires weekends, holidays, and outdoor work during winter operations. 
  • Regularly stand, hike, balance, bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, grip, and perform repetitive tool work for extended periods on steep, uneven, loose, muddy, or rocky terrain.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to [50] pounds independently and heavier or awkward materials with team or mechanical assistance.
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, smoke, insects, high elevation, and rapidly changing weather, sometimes at remote locations with delayed access to facilities.
