Description:

The Restoration/Landscape Laborer will assist in a variety of construction projects related to underground utility maintenance and site restoration. This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks, and working effectively as part of a team. The ideal candidate takes pride in restoring disturbed areas to their original or improved condition, enjoys hands-on outdoor work, and can lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Site Preparation: Prepare construction and restoration sites by clearing debris, grading surfaces, and ensuring a safe and organized work area.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment necessary for construction and restoration tasks.
  • Restoration Work: Restore job sites after underground utility installation by laying topsoil, spreading grass seed, installing erosion control blankets, or placing sod.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate hand tools and small equipment such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, or a Dingo/mini skid steer for restoration and backfilling.
  • Site Clean-Up: Remove debris and garbage from work sites and assist in final site restoration to meet project standards.
  • Temporary Structures: Assemble and break down barricades and other temporary site structures as needed.
  • Traffic Regulation: Regulate traffic flow and erect traffic signs in accordance with MUTCD guidelines to ensure safety around the construction site.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety standards, specifically OSHA 1926 Construction Safety regulations.
  • Excavation Work: Perform digging, potholing, trenching, and other underground excavation work as required for utility maintenance.

Minimum Skills & Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with minimal driving violations within the past 3-5 years.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures for projects and equipment.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong communication, time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 2-4+ years of experience in construction, landscaping, or underground utility maintenance.
  • Familiarity with operating construction and landscaping tools/equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of site preparation, grading, and restoration techniques.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  • CDL with tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of MUTCD traffic regulation and OSHA 1926 Construction Safety standards.
