What is traffic management center operations?

Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operations refer to the activities and processes carried out in a centralized facility responsible for monitoring and managing the flow of traffic on roadways. Staff in a TMC use advanced technologies, such as cameras, sensors, and communication systems, to detect incidents, manage traffic signals, and provide real-time information to drivers. Their goal is to improve roadway safety, reduce congestion, and coordinate emergency responses. TMC Operations play a crucial role in efficient transportation system management, especially in urban areas.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in traffic management center operations?
