Job Summary
The Traffic Control Apprentice at Southeastern Traffic Supply, A Helix Family company, plays a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow around construction zones, road work, and other temporary disruptions. This position is responsible for protecting workers, motorists, and pedestrians by following established traffic control procedures and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic using signs, paddles, and flags
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control zones (cones, barricades, signage)
  • Communicate clearly with drivers to ensure safe and orderly traffic flow
  • Monitor work zones and traffic patterns to identify and respond to potential hazards
  • Coordinate with team members and supervisors using radios and hand signals
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Alert crew members of unsafe conditions or non-compliant drivers
  • Assist with loading and unloading traffic control equipment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Certifications:
  • Traffic Control/Flagger certification (provided by company)
  • Valid driver's license required

Experience:
  • No experience required - training provided
  • Prior traffic control experience is a plus
