Senior Construction Inspector
Department: Construction/CEI

Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour
Description
Artheon is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team working on projects located in the State of New Jersey for various state and regional agencies. Primary responsibilities will be inspecting heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Key duties include daily site inspections, material testing, maintaining daily logs of materials and project progress, and ensuring compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance: Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials strictly adhere to project specifications. Inspect paving, drainage, and structural elements on site.
  • Document Control: Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain logs of materials used, and document workforce or equipment quantities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Monitor work zones for proper safety measures, including MPT compliance and OSHA regulations. Identify unsafe conditions and enforce environmental regulations (e.g., erosion control).
  • Project Administration: Assist Resident Engineers in processing submittals, tracking pay items, and approving monthly estimates of completed work.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
  • Certifications: NICET III and above, ACI Field Grade I, NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists), and Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator).
  • Skills: Ability to read complex blueprints, strong written communication, and familiarity with agency electronic record systems (Site Manager, CapEx).
  • Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
  • Reliable personal vehicle for travel to-from and on job site
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills are REQUIRED. Must be efficient in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook.
