Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Director, the student will be responsible for assisting the Information Services Coordinators along with the Events and Equipment Analyst on the day-to-day operations of the campus' two Information Centers and occasionally the parking main office. Responsibilities include distributing permits, logging in permits, selling permits on T2, distributing campus information to faculty, staff, students and visitors, receiving and managing of daily guest permit requests, reconciling the monies received from Special Event permit sales and reconciling the monies when applicable within the Information Centers. Assisting Information Center staff with permit dispenser cash collections and the performance of routine equipment maintenance
The student will also be required to assist with special events taking place on campus such as directing traffic, moving equipment and any other duties needed in the field during special events. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for helping assist guests at the parking dispensers during special events and normal operational hours. The incumbent will assist with department communications via phone, email, and online chat . The position does have a mandatory uniform which consists of a blue polo (polo provided by the department) along with black pants with black shoes. No open toed shoes or crocs. Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
Customer Service:
• Student Assistants will serve as the primary point of contact for the Information Centers (IC) service window.
• Communicate effectively with guests through verbal, written, and electronic channels, including servicing guests at the window, answering phones, sending emails, engaging in online chat, and greeting clients upon entry to the university.
• Aid guests at parking dispensers during both regular operational hours and special events.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in-person, over the telephone, and through electronic communication channels such as email and online chat.
Office Support:
• Assist in the issuance and sale of permits using the T2 system.
• Provide support for permit sales during special events.
• Organize and maintain records of all permits across various documents.
• Create, update, and organize records as necessary.
• Monitor and replenish supplies within the Information Centers.
• Assist with clerical tasks to ensure an orderly working environment.
Field Operations:
• Participate in special events on campus, including job fairs, tabling, special event permit sales, event traffic control, dispenser coverage, commencement, homecoming, coyote fest, late-night activities, and the first week of classes, among others.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions, exercising independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems, and developing practical, thorough, and innovative solutions.
-Assisting Information Center staff with permit dispenser cash collections and the performance of routine equipment maintenance
• Student Assistants will undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
