Job description

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating and meeting customer needs in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Rogers Group is currently seeking Asphalt and Milling Crew members for Operations in the Huntsville, AL / North Alabama operations area, Alabama SMA reporting to the Paving Superintendent. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work safely and provide quality support.

Job Details: 

  • Wages start at $22 per hour, starting wage could be higher with verifiable asphalt experience
  • Crew members roles include the following: Milling machine operator, paver operator, Screed & Roller operator, Asphalt Raker (Lute), Power Broom operator, Skid Steer Operator, Flagger and Shovel; Tack Truck and Water Truck drivers with CDL
  • Must constantly exercise safety and quality behaviors
  • Fulltime/Permanent 
  • Day Shift
  • Weekend work and Night Shift Operations may be required
  • Overtime available along with extensive medical and retirement benefits

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Perform general asphalt labor as directed by the working foreman and superintendent
  • Use hand tools such as but not limited: shovel and lute/rake
  • Assist with Traffic Control as needed 
  • Ability to operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency and in challenging and unique terrain environments
  • Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management.
  • Perform daily pre-and post- inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
  • Effective communication skills applicable to position
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA / Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment

Qualifications:

  • An uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of asphalt paving experience is required
  • 1 year of asphalt lute/rake preferred
  • Experience working with road construction in high traffic areas including some experience with MUTCD traffic control
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move heavy objects
  • Ability to work outdoors, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving
  • Ability to properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Supervisor
  • Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
  • Follow directions of Supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary, and other duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends, as necessary
  • Valid driver's license is required
