Job Description

The Head of Customs and Foreign Trade Americas & Strategy Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance, governance, and strategic alignment of customs and foreign trade operations. The role focuses on managing complex customs requirements, developing expertise and controls, and acting as a business partner to drive strategic customs projects across US, MEX, CAN and BRA while contributing also to the global community. 

Core Responsibilities:
 

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all import/export reporting, customs entries, and claims are submitted accurately and within regulatory timelines. Maintain adherence to CBPin the USand Government Agency regulationsacross the Americas related countries. 

  • Broker & Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with third-party customs brokers andproviders. Audit performance(KPIs), enforce service-level agreements (SLAs), andnegotiatingcontracts. 

  • Tariff & Duty Optimization: Manage direct HTS classification, valuation, and origin determination management. Leverage FTAs (Free Trade Agreements like USMCA). 

  • Trade Programs & Security: supportspecific preferential and / or mandatory programs (ex: IMMEX,CTPAT...).  

  • Audits & Risk Mitigation: Drive external & internal process audits, respond to authorities / customs inquiries and perform systemic problem solving. Support and coordinate internal control & risk management systems. 

  • Strategic leadership and Operational support: Lead strategic customs projects contributing to the region and the global team. Support value chain projects with customs inputs (ex: Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), Bonded Warehouses, etc...) and activities which help the organization to guarantee a continuous value chain flow.  

  • Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop team while driving accountability, resource planning, and achievement of strategic and operational objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, International Business, Logistics, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of progressive responsibility in global trade compliance, customs operations, and import/export processes

  • Strong knowledge of North American trade laws, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) rules, export controls, and current U.S. tariff policies, including the ability to assess and respond to evolving trade regulations.

  • Soft Skills: Strong cross-functional leadership, data analytics proficiency (ACE reporting, ERP systems), and excellent communication for liaising with government authorities and internal stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team, with responsibility for coaching, performance management, resource planning, and achieving business objectives
