In this crucial position,you will:In this role, you will serve as a Senior Manager within Global Trade Compliance (GTC), part of Amgen's Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics organization. You will lead key elements of Amgen's global trade compliance program, providing strategic guidance across sanctions, export controls, restricted-party screening, clinical valuation, and other international trade compliance matters.

  • You will be responsible for Amgen's enterprise framework for screening counterparties, transactions, and ownership structures under regulations administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) 50% rule, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) 50% rule, and other applicable global regulatory authorities. As the primary escalation point for high-risk screening alerts and complex ownership determinations, you will lead enhanced due diligence activities and prepare risk assessments and recommended operational actions while supporting business operations worldwide in partnership with legal team, business partners, as well as other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Lead the global clinical trial customs valuation program, including maintaining valuation methodologies, coordinating the annual true-up process, and partnering with stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable clinical customs valuation requirements.

  • This role combines technical trade expertise, investigative rigor, strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, process innovation, and executive communication. You will also help shape the future of Amgen's Global Trade Compliance program by leveraging automation, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and digital technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and risk detection.

  • As business priorities and global regulations evolve, you will also support additional trade compliance initiatives and special projects across the Global Trade Compliance organization.

  • Provide trade compliance support for strategic business initiatives, acquisitions, product launches, supply chain changes, and other enterprise projects.

  • Lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously in a dynamic global environment.

Basic qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in compliance or screening operations, risk management, regulatory affairs, audit, law, or a related field or

  • Master's degree and 4 years of experience in compliance or screening operations, risk management, regulatory affairs, audit, law, or a related field or

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in compliance or screening operations, risk management, regulatory affairs, audit, law, or a related field or

  • Associate's degree and 10 years of experience in compliance or screening operations, risk management, regulatory affairs, audit, law, or a related field

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience as a trade compliance subject matter expert of a multinational company; healthcare or life sciences experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of BIS & OFAC sanctions regulations and the 50 Percent Rule and other global restricted-party screening requirements

  • Experience conducting ownership due diligence and ultimate beneficial ownership investigations, including analysis of complex direct and indirect ownership structures

  • Proficiency with sanctions and trade compliance platforms such as Dow Jones, Descartes, MK Denial, Sayari, Kharon, SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, or comparable systems

  • Experience conducting and managing investigations, incident management, and remediation plans

  • Ability to synthesize, analyze, and communicate complex compliance data and concepts to diverse audiences

  • Self-starter with creative, strategic thinking and the ability to drive issues to closure in a fast-paced environment

  • Skilled in leveraging AI and advanced analytics for compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and data-driven decision making

  • Strong critical thinking, writing, negotiation, presentation, project management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to think strategically, translate strategy into action plans, prioritize competing demands, resolve conflict, meet deadlines, and operate independently

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across departments and geographies, influence all levels of staff and management, and work successfully in a global matrix

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
