Summary / objective of position:
The Operations Trading Associate will primarily be responsible for managing the equity trading desk related to stock execution and mutual fund processing, post trade processing, security classification, and security setup. Associate will primarily work with outside brokers and custodians, along with the firm's Portfolio Management and Operations teams to ensure trades are executed and settled correctly in a timely manner. Operations Trading Associate will also assist the Equity Trading Manager and Operations Manager on special projects. The position presents a great opportunity to gain experience and knowledge at a growing and dynamic investment advisory firm.
Essential functions of position:
Equity Trading Desk - Manage the equity trading blotter within the Eze trading platform, by taking ownership, reviewing, merging, and placing orders, for various equity securities including stocks, ETFs, options, and preferred stocks, with the appropriate brokers in a timely and efficient manner. Monitor the limit blotter and execute orders when limits hit. Process daily mutual fund files with outside custodians. Review and apply daily account restrictions for trading purposes. Work with the firm's Portfolio Managers on trading related inquiries, special trading instructions, and resolving any trade issues in a timely manner.
Post Trade Processing - Manage the post trade process to ensure that trades executed by the Equity and Fixed Income traders are allocated and booked correctly by monitoring the Central Trade Manager (CTM) blotter, affirming DTC confirms in the Trade Suite system, keeping the ALERT system up-to-date with current delivery instructions, and work as a liaison between brokers and custodians to resolve settlement issues.
Other Responsibilities - Include security setups, sector classifications, managing trading compliance alerts, end-of-day allocations, pricing securities, work on internal Help Desk tickets and other responsibilities assigned by the Equity Trading Manager.
Associate will be expected to work within a team-based environment, where duties and responsibilities alternate with another team member on regular basis to keep each associate's skills up-to-date and give adequate coverage when a member is out.
Preferred education and experience
  • Preferred Financial Services Operations experience
  • Working knowledge of general security investments and experience, Series 6 or 7 a plus
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task procedures timely and efficiently
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and client service
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Willing to learn and navigate between multiple systems and platforms
  • Business working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Willing to accept new responsibilities
  • Responsible, motivated, self-starter independent thinker and works effectively with others in a professional manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with DTCC Applications, Bloomberg, SalesForce, and Advent a plus
