ROLE SUMMARY: This role, based in New York, is responsible for authenticating and evaluating for auction various Trading Card Games. It includes soliciting and processing auction consignments, developing and nurturing relationships with clients and fellow specialists, responding to HA and independently-generated leads, participating in catalog production and sales processes, and other responsibilities associated with building a new auction category department.


LOCATION: Heritage Auctions New York Office, 445 Park Ave., New York, NY 10022

COMPENSATION: $75,000 - $100,000 annually (Commensurate based on experience.)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Authenticate and evaluate property for auction and establish auction estimates.
  • Acquire consignments through HA and individually-generated leads.
  • Research and catalog property with meticulous accuracy.
  • Proof catalog text and images, press releases, consignment and bidding emails, and advertising copy.
  • Market auctions and specific auction lots to various clients.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the client database.
  • Answer inquiries before, during, and after the auction.
  • Develop long-term win-win relationships with potential and current bidders, consignors, consultants, and other specialists.
  • Assist and protect Heritage’s clientele, and our reputation, to the utmost of your ability.
  • Travel as needed to meet with clients and review the property for potential consignment.
  • Assist at previews and trade shows and actively participate in auctions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience as a commercial dealer and/or working in a major auction house environment with a focus on Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and other Trading Card Games is preferred, but we will always consider candidates from other fields who have deep knowledge and contacts within the field of Trading Card Games.

  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, high capacity to multitask, pay attention to detail, and have a positive attitude with good customer service abilities; the ideal applicant is a go-getter, extroverted, self-motivated, a lifelong learner, and independent professional.
