Job description

Job Title: Trading Application Support Engineer
Location: New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan hybrid 3 days onsite)
Other approved location: Pennington, NJ or Chandler, AZ
Duration: 12 months contract
Job Description:
Client is actively recruiting an Application Support Engineer consultant that will support our client's front office credit risk production environment and provide real time financial application support across U.S. markets. This role requires someone who can work in a high pressure banking production environment and assimilate information from multiple sources quickly. The role requires a good problem solver, and someone who can adhere to strict procedures and guidelines which include incident, service request and change management.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the support of global markets risk and batch systems with specific focus on in-house developed Java applications built on UNIX.
First point of contact for all front office personnel to resolve issues with risk analysis and reporting tools.
Work closely with users, answering their queries and raising development requests as they are presented.
Escalation and timely resolution of production issues, using fundamental problem management disciplines.
Liaise between applications users and technology teams to address user queries and issues.
Perform analysis around new requirements or improvements to the current systems based on analysis and feedback from users.
Develop and maintain documentation for reference as a knowledge base for training and incident management.
Desired Experience:
Enterprise production support experience working in a Level 2 and 3 incident, problem, and release management support capacity.
Ability to deal with a high pressure and manage oneself in an environment of high frequency business and technology changes adhering to release and change management principles.
Hands-on troubleshooting experience of UNIX/Linux OS, relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), and applications developed in Java or Python.
Scripting knowledge within UNIX/Linux OS as well as for automating tasks including shell, bash, Perl, or Python.
Experience with Splunk dashboards and SPL (Search Processing Language).
Experience with application monitoring tools such as Geneos ITRS is nice to have.
Batch job scheduling tool experience such as Autosys is nice to have.
