Job description

NVR has been helping families build their happily ever after since 1948. As a Top 5 US homebuilder, we're committed to quality and to our customers and we take pride in the over 500,000 new homes we have sold and built across the country. Working in the homebuilding industry is tangible and rewarding, but not every job at NVR requires a hard hat. We don't just sell and build new homes; we also manage teams, acquire land, manufacture materials, provide mortgages to our customers, and provide corporate support to NVR's multi-billion dollar business operations.
Join us for the summer and apply your schoolwork to real-life business situations with a growing industry leader.
The NVR Mortgage Hedging & Trading Internship program will give you hands-on exposure to how mortgage pipelines are priced, hedged, and sold in the secondary market. You'll learn directly from capital-markets professionals as they manage loan pricing, investor relationships, reporting, and market-driven decision-making. You'll also gain high-level exposure to how the team uses TBA (To-Be- Announced) trading to hedge interest-rate risk and manage MBS market volatility. Throughout the internship, you'll gain practical experience observing loan sales, assisting with basic reporting activities, and understanding how market conditions impact mortgage execution and hedge positions. You will develop meaningful skills, take on real responsibilities, and be compensated for your contributions. And like many of our past interns, you may even discover a long-term career opportunity at NVR.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Learn how the Hedging & Trading team hedge NVR Mortgage's loan pipeline and by observing how market movements, pricing tools, and investor programs influence daily decisions.
  • Gain exposure to TBA trading by observing how the team executes trades with Wall Street broker-dealers, manages roughly $50 billion in annual notional value, and maintains strong trading-desk relationships to maximize execution and manage margin calls.
  • Develop an understanding of secondary-marketing reporting by assisting team members as they prepare daily position summaries and walk through how discrepancies in data are researched and resolved.
  • Spend time shadowing professionals across Capital Markets, Loan Sales, and Accounting to understand how loans are priced, committed, sold, and reconciled throughout the mortgage process.
  • Learn about the broader Mortgage-Backed-Security (MBS) market and homebuilding lifecycle by seeing how hedging and trading activities support the sale of homes and by spending time with operations teams who help deliver a customer's final mortgage product.

Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in college degree program (scheduled to graduate within 12 months of the internship is preferred)
  • Highly driven & self-motivated with leadership experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Current Driver's License
  • Students from all degree majors are welcome
