The Strategic Manager of Commodities at Envita is responsible for maintaining a strong market position in scrap metal, cardboard, plastic and other recyclable commodities, both internally and for our customers. This role plays a key part in Envita's Supplier Excellence program and collaborates closely with the Vendor Partnerships team and internal Operations Teams to drive strategic success.
Essential Functions
  • Commitment to Health & Safety - Ensure safety remains the top priority by adhering to policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times.
  • Commodity Program Development - Design and propose strategic scrap metal, cardboard, plastic and other commodity programs that support operational teams and customer initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with the Vendor Partnership Team and Operations groups to execute corporate directives and initiatives effectively.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - Develop and maintain a strategic supplier network with commodity buying and trading capabilities.
  • Operational & Financial Optimization - Support Program Managers in identifying, formalizing, and implementing best practices to enhance cash flow and margins.
  • Vendor & Customer Liaison - Act as the primary contact between Supplier Partners and Program Managers for commodity-related activities at customer facilities.
  • Market Analysis & Pricing Strategy - Monitor, maintain, and share market price data and forecasts through third-party platforms to inform strategic decision-making.
  • CRM & Data Utilization - Leverage internal CRM systems and customer data to optimize commodity pricing across the company, tracking and reporting improvements.
  • Business Development Support - Collaborate with the Business Development team to assess new business opportunities involving commodity-based bid scenarios.
  • Negotiation & Contract Management - Negotiate terms and pricing with third-party suppliers and contractors to ensure competitive advantages.
  • Industry Awareness & Compliance - Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and market changes to ensure compliance with Envita SOPs and best practices.
  • Reporting & Strategy Development - Prepare and present progress reports, proposals, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Trade & Market Engagement - Attend key industry events and trade shows to identify new opportunities and strengthen vendor and customer relationships.
  • Customer & Supplier Site Visits - Travel as needed (up to 30%, including international travel) to assess and manage strategic opportunities.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in related field.

Experience Qualifications
  • Required 3+ years of experience in customer account management, scrap metal management, or related commodities
  • Preferred 1+ years Strong background in commodity markets, including scrap metal trading.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional time management and attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders with minimal supervision.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to develop new business opportunities.
