Chipton-Ross is seeking a Principal Technical Editor/Writer 3 for a contract opportunity in San Diego, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
  • Bachelors degree with 5 years of related experience OR a Masters degree with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD with 1 year of related experience
  • Current DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documents, and experience working with SMEs to improve and clarify technical documentation.
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint plus Adobe Acrobat.
  • Well-organized, detailed-oriented self-starter who enjoys challenges and works well in teams and independently.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to include the ability to multitask; must be focused on program's documentation requirements and deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, as well as the customer.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position is at our Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, CA. This position is fully onsite; remote work is not available.
  • The selected candidate will support a wide array of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of technical publications for a large defense program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Editing plans, technical reports, test procedures, statements of work, user manuals, operation manuals, requirement specifications, validation documents, and proposal volumes.
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure clear and accurate technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with Configuration Management and Quality Mission Assurance for document publication and delivery.
  • Capturing meeting minutes and action items for technical exchange meetings (TEMs) and design reviews.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
  • Understanding of contractual requirements [SOWs and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)] and Configuration Management processes.
  • Understanding of program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) to determine document portion markings.
  • Proposal experience, such as authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and editing Technical Volumes.
  • Experience using Agile framework and Jira best practices.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree is required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS
9/80 workweek.
