Business Development Manager / Strategic Accounts
Location: US - ideally within easy access of a major airport
Travel: 50-75%

Are you an experienced Key Account Manager or Business Development professional with a strong background in industrial manufacturing, technical products or engineered solutions?
We are supporting a growing organisation as they look to appoint a Business Development Manager / Strategic Accounts to drive profitable growth across a portfolio of strategically important national customers.
This is a senior, relationship-led sales position for someone who understands how to develop complex industrial accounts, build relationships at multiple levels and identify opportunities to increase revenue across customers, sites and applications.
The Role:
You will take responsibility for a portfolio of approximately 10-15 strategic accounts, working closely with customers to understand their businesses, identify opportunities and develop long-term commercial relationships.
You will:
  • Develop and execute strategic account growth and business development plans.
  • Retain and expand strategically important national accounts.
  • Build strong relationships across procurement, engineering, operations, quality, plant leadership and senior management.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional products, applications and solutions.
  • Develop opportunities across additional customer sites, divisions and geographic locations.
  • Identify and develop new strategic accounts and emerging market opportunities.
  • Manage complex, long-cycle sales opportunities from initial qualification through to quoting, negotiation and contract development.
  • Use your technical understanding to identify customer needs and position engineered solutions effectively.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Inside Sales, Customer Service and Leadership to deliver the right solutions for customers.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline management, forecasting and follow-up.
  • Represent the organisation at customer meetings, site visits, business reviews and industry events.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced commercial professional who can demonstrate a strong track record of retaining and growing complex national accounts.
You will ideally have:
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing, metals, technical products, engineered solutions or a related B2B environment.
  • Proven experience managing and expanding strategic or national accounts.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships at multiple levels within an organisation.
  • Experience selling technical products, engineered solutions or complex B2B offerings.
  • The ability to understand customer requirements and translate technical capabilities into commercial opportunities.
  • Experience managing long-cycle sales processes and complex customer programmes.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and commercial skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying new applications, customers and revenue opportunities.
  • Strong CRM, pipeline and forecasting discipline.
  • A stable career history demonstrating long-term commitment and relationship development.
Experience within the metals industry is highly desirable, while experience within industrial filtration or related technical industries would be a strong advantage.
Travel:
This is a high-travel position, with approximately 50-75% travel required for customer meetings, site visits, business reviews and industry events.
You should therefore be comfortable with regular domestic travel and ideally be located within easy reach of a major US airport.
