Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking a hardworking, experienced professional to serve as a Process Maintenance General Foreman. This role will be responsible for managing and executing multi-disciplinary projects as well as establishing a professional working team environment.

This is a non-exempt, salary position, reporting directly to the Yukon Regional Director.

The selected candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to the Palmer, AK area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

  • Must have a clear understanding of the product lines that we promote and the ability to communicate to customers the features and benefits of each
  • Be able and willing to work a variety of schedules, including day or night shifts
  • Ability to safely lift 75-100 lbs. frequently, using proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to perform and obtain necessary work permits (including confined space procedures), operation of monitoring equipment and all related paperwork and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of documents required to enter mine site(s)
  • Ability to organize 5000-23's for all sites (hazard and site specific, annual refresher, badges) and make them available on demand
  • Initiate and participate in training activities within the group
  • Ability to complete job walks and provide accurate job quotes
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations
  • Other job duties as assigned by management

Position-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for site project management and ensuring activities are accomplished in a safe and effective manner.
  • Direct crews including project oversight, scheduling, timekeeping, disciplinary action, and assisting in the professional development of crew members.
  • Assist in project selection and bidding, and perform sales functions and service calls.
  • Performs skilled industrial mechanical work in connection with mining and industrial environments.
  • Skilled in operating hand and shop tools and powered equipment common to the mechanical trade.
  • Ability to properly use cutting/welding equipment (torch, welder).
  • Proficient in the use of basic rigging/lifting devices (cables, chains, come-along, shackles, slings, straps, electric winches).
  • Proficient in operating a forklift, come along, air impacts, air hoist, tugger, hydraulic rams, and porta powers.
  • Ability to read and apply blueprints enabling construction.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required upon hire and as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • 5-10 years experience in Industrial mechanical, construction, millwright, and pipefitting trades.
  • Knowledge of methods and materials common to industrial maintenance and construction trade.
  • Maintain required certifications for work assignments. (MSHA, OSHA, site-specific safety, and equipment specific.).
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft platform, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with all personnel
  • Possess good communication skills, i.e., written, verbal and listening
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to safely lift 75-100 pounds frequently, using proper lifting techniques.

Criteria/Conditions

  • Work is performed in various industrial settings, including Shop, mining, and construction environments.
  • Work includes operating both indoors and outdoors - elements vary by season and geographic location.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required on a regular basis. Proper identification and use of PPE, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, gloves, and other required protective equipment as required.
