POSITION SUMMARY
We are pleased to offer the current job opportunity for an Equipment Operator II position within Public Works.
This position is included in the Bargaining Unit of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150.
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements of the United States Department of Transportation - Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities Include:
  • Operates a variety of motor vehicles and heavy equipment (e.g. loader, skid steer loader, large grader, vactor, snow plow, wing plow, semi-tractor/trailer, tanker truck, and backhoe) for performing maintenance and construction of roads and sewer lines
  • Cleans roads of debris and rods out lines where debris has collected
  • Repairs shoulders and right-of-ways
  • Operates equipment for snow removal on roads including a 6-wheeler or dump truck
  • Installs drainage structures for proper water and sewage removal
  • Hauls sand, asphalt, large rocks, lumber, refuse, sludge and other materials
  • Cleans and repairs catch basins with cement
  • Assist in general maintenance tasks within wastewater treatment facilities
  • Performs basic maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment
  • Repairs barricades
  • Maintains records and reports
  • Acts as a flagger when needed
  • Monitors gauges and pumps on equipment
  • Connects hoses and valves for equipment operation
  • Operates tractor tanker truck
  • Picks up and delivers supplies and equipment as directed
  • Acts as a lead worker and assists co-workers with their work assignments

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment or commercial vehicles
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an air brakes & tanker endorsement.
The Preferred Candidate will have:
  • Experience driving a manual transmission semi-tractor trailer or tanker

A post offer drug screen is required.

A pre-employment background check is required.
