Job description

FNF Construction, Inc. is hiring an experienced Trackhoe Operator (CAT 320 +) who would be responsible for safely and efficiently operating Large Excavators (CAT 320 and above) on construction projects involving underground utilities and large-diameter pipe installation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working around pipes up to 60 inches in diameter and demonstrate strong knowledge of trenching, rigging practices, and working within shoring systems and trench boxes.  This role requires precision excavation skills, the ability to read site conditions, and close coordination with ground crews to ensure proper placement, alignment, and safety of underground infrastructure. The Trackhoe Operator must follow all safety regulations, maintain situational awareness in trench environments, and contribute to overall job site productivity and safety.

  • Operate Large Trackhoes (CAT 320+) to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling tasks
  • Safely excavate around underground utilities, including installation and exposure of large-diameter pipes (up to 60")
  • Perform precision digging to maintain proper grade, alignment, and depth per project specifications
  • Work efficiently in trench environments, including around trench boxes, shoring systems, and confined spaces
  • Utilize proper rigging techniques to assist with lifting, positioning, and setting pipe and materials
  • Coordinate closely with ground crew, spotters, and supervisors to ensure safe and accurate operations
  • Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and utility markings
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections, identifying and reporting maintenance needs
  • Maintain control and awareness of equipment in high-risk areas near personnel, structures, and live traffic
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies at all times
  • Adjust operations based on soil conditions, weather, and job site hazards
  • Assist with site preparation and cleanup as needed
  • Proven experience operating large excavators, specifically CAT 320 or larger
  • Demonstrated experience working around large-diameter pipe installations (up to 60”)
  • Strong knowledge of trenching, excavation, and working around trench boxes and shoring systems
  • Experience with rigging, signaling, and safely lifting/setting pipe and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and underground utility markings
  • Solid understanding of OSHA safety regulations and excavation safety standards
