Job description

Consultant Engineering, Inc. (CEI) is an Arizona owned and operated professional engineering firm headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. As one of the Southwest’s largest construction management firms, we also provide professional right of way (appraisals, acquisition and relocation services) and land surveying services. CEI is hiring a full time Building Inspector for a unique educational water facility in the NW Phoenix area. Construction will consist of 2 distinct buildings that span over the canal to allow a walkway for public use and view.

Job Requirements

Seasoned Building Inspector experienced in performing inspections of public buildings in all stages including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for compliance with State, County, Federal and City codes. Documents, inputs, and tracks inspection results. Prepares and distributes forms and reports.

Formal Education / Knowledge - Specific building/vocational or degree

Experience – Specific building inspection for state/commercial properties based on approved plans and adopted city codes and ordinances.

Conduct regular inspections in each stage of construction in the field and concluding a final inspection for project completion.

Certifications and Other Requirements (Client specific) IBC, ICC Building Inspector certifications to include broad scoped MPE ICC building certifications.

Work requires the ability to read and interpret code books, blueprints, spec books, memos, mail, technical reports, manuals, charts, tables, and plans and specifications.

Essential Functions

Ensures compliance with City and state codes by performing inspections of public and private buildings, approving/rejecting inspections, record and track all building data, reviewing plans, investigate all nonconformance, issuing notices to comply.

Performs senior level inspection duties in trade specialties such as, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural. Reviews and interprets approved construction plans, specifications, and special provisions as a basis for monitoring construction activities.

Notate and track all inspection results and maintaining database, preparing daily reports to owner.

Confers with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field and office.

Interprets plans and building requirements and code restrictions and adheres to conformity.

Prepare detailed daily reports on project progress, inspections and safety/compliance issues.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions

Withstanding exposure to extreme weather conditions in construction areas located in rugged terrain and/or subject to traffic hazards.

Frequent travel to work in remote locales.

Occasional lifting in excess of 50 pounds, repetitive tasks with few breaks, extended walking over rough terrain, climbing over 10 feet, exposure to hazardous materials, continuous loud noises, strenuous physical activity and/or proximity to large construction equipment.

Safe driving habits which will be monitored via company vehicle GPS tracking system.

Work is fulltime and onsite in NW Phoenix. Project is approximately a year with work commencing late May/early June.
