TrackTown USA is seeking a Retail Sales & Operations Lead to drive on site retail sales and operational excellence for major international track and field events at Hayward Field. This role is accountable for preparing, staffing, and operating retail footprints that are visually compelling, operationally sound, and designed to maximize sales while delivering a world class fan experience.
TrackTown USA, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to setting a standard of excellence in hosting premier track and field events, creating a supportive environment for elite athletic performances, being a leader in sustainable sport practices, and inspiring the next generation of track and field athletes and fans. The organization was responsible for organizing the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, the 2015, 2022, 2023, and 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, and the 2016, 2020, and 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Track & Field. In partnership with USA Track & Field, the organization brought the 2022 World Athletics Championships to the United States for the first time. TrackTown delivers the Wanda Diamond League's recurring Prefontaine Classic, recognized as one of the world's best track and field meets.
Position Summary
As an on-site leader, the Retail Sales & Operations Lead manages teams, merchandise flow, and real-time decision-making in a fast-paced event environment, with a clear focus on sales execution, conversion, and guest engagement in support of TrackTown USA's mission to make Eugene the premier destination for track and field.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operations, Sales & Leadership
• Lead on-site retail sales operations within assigned event retail footprint(s).
• Serve as primary point of contact for retail leadership, venue partners, and merch team.
• Conduct daily team briefings, assign responsibilities, and ensure staff readiness.
• Ensure retail environment meets brand, visual, operational and sales driven merchandising standards.
Merchandising, Setup & Preparation
• Support pre-event setup, including visual merchandising and product placement.
• Ensure elevated presentation of Pre26 apparel, accessories, and memorabilia.
• Maintain organized back-of-house inventory systems for efficient replenishment.
• Execute merchandising plans in partnership with merchandising leadership.
Event-Day Sales Execution & Guest Experience
• Lead and coach on-site staff to deliver a friendly, knowledgeable, customer-first experience.
• Monitor sales floor activity, customer flow, and staffing levels to optimize performance.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges and make timely, effective decisions.
Inventory Management & Teardown
• Oversee inventory levels, replenishment, and product movement to ensure high-demand items remain in stock.
• Ensure accurate product counts, shrink prevention, and inventory controls that protect sales.
• Support post-event teardown, including packing, inventory verification, and storage preparation.
• Maintain clean, organized, and secure stock areas to support efficient selling and replenishment.
Required Qualifications
• Experience in retail sales, event operations, or related leadership roles.
• Proven ability to lead teams in high-volume, fast-paced sales driven environments.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25-30 lbs. as required.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and multi-day events.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in sports, live events, or large-scale fan-based retail environments.
• Experience and working knowledge of POS systems
• Familiarity with visual merchandising principles and presentation standards.
• Ability to assess sales opportunities and adjust operations in real time.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Comfort collaborating with cross-functional partners.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure.
