Job description

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  1. Checks the schedule and/or pattern sheet to verify raw materials are available to produce the next warp.
  2. Ensures ID Thread is added to the slashing process.
  3. Operates machine to saturate warp yarn with size and wind sized yarn onto loom beam.
  4. Positions section beams onto creel with aid of another worker, using hoist.
  5. Ensures the correct style is on the creel. Ensures section beams are loaded.
  6. Ensures the correct number of section beams are hung in the creel by counting the number of section beams that the style pattern requires.
  7. Obtains the Slasher Check Sheet to verify that the creel is positioned correctly. It is filled out for every warp that is produced, and is signed by the slasher operator and the size prep.
  8. Ensures creel tension is set correctly.
  9. Gathers ends of warp together and ties warp to corresponding leaders left in machine from previous run, or when machine is empty, bunches ends together and threads yarn through size box around drying cylinders, and onto loom beams.
  10. Inserts lease rods between alternate strands of yarn to prevent yarn from sticking together.
  11. Lays individual warp ends between teeth of expansion comb for even distribution across loom beam.
  12. Sets beam heads to specified width.
  13. Turns valves to admit size into vat and steam into drying cylinders
  14. Sets yardage clock to indicate yardage to be wound on loom beam.
  15. Starts machine and observes flow of warp through machine to detect breaks and tangles in yarn.
  16. Beams the warp, attaches the correct doff sheets and warp tickets to the warp. Tapes ID and tie threads to the warp.
  17. Disentangles yarn and ties broken ends with fingers
  18. Records stops in Porini using a three digit stop code.
  19. Feels yarn to verify adherence of size to yarn and ensure that yarn is dry but not burned.
  20. Inserts lease string in warp yarn and secures yarn ends with tape.
  21. Doffs loom beam onto warp truck and replaces with empty beam, using hoist.
  22. Transports completed warp to leasing machine.
  23. Changes temperature control chart on control panel as set up requires.
  24. Completes hoist checklist to ensure proper function and safety requirements are met.
  25. Performs housekeeping duties in assigned areas.
  26. Troubleshoots causes of problems. Notifies supervisor or maintenance when equipment malfunctions.
  27. Performs other duties assigned by management.
  28. Follow all safety rules to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.

Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust and various chemicals, and moving parts requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe shoes.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is regularly required to talk, walk, stand (for extended periods of time), and hear. The candidate must have good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. The candidate will be required to reach out and overhead with hands and arms, and perform repetitive hand actions - grasping, push/pull, and fine manipulations. The candidate will be required to bend, stoop, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull with entire body weights up to 600 lbs. using beam hoists. The candidate must be able to climb up and down steps as necessary. The candidate must be able to climb up and down ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include color vision, close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be determined by shift. Weekend and overtime may be required as job duties demand.
TravelThis position requires little to no travel.
Required Education and Experience
  1. High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate preferred.
  2. Must be able to operate a warp pan truck and forklift. Certification to operate these powered industrial trucks will be required.
