Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our service department as a Technician. Reporting to the Team Leader, Service Advisor, and/or Service Management, the Technician services and repairs vehicles in a timely manner with accuracy and integrity. He or she inspects vehicles for needed maintenance and repairs and communicates needs to the Service Adviser, follows all diagnostic rules as prescribed by Toyota and best practices, and verifies that repairs have been completed using test drives and proper diagnostic equipment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, some post-secondary automotive training, at least two years of automotive dealer or independent automotive shop required, a strong technical and customer service performance record, and an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record. Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a plus. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing, with customers and coworkers about repairs and service needs and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Competently repair/maintain all automotive technology
  • Maintains “Fixed right first time” and “Done on time” scores equal to the national average
  • Notifies Service Manager of any vehicle in for repair over three days
  • Ensures thorough inspections are performed on vehicles and documented according to shop policies
  • Ensures completion times for all assigned jobs
  • Communicates with Advisor/Team Leader any changes in jobs that alter completion/promise time (breaks part, misdiagnosed, completed job early, etc.)
  • Uses software to manage vehicle repair: Service menus, Dispatching, Scheduling, and others as directed by management
  • Maintains a high standard of quality workmanship for the labor performed, diagnoses with accuracy, and repairs with integrity
  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness, grooming, and uniform appearance
  • Ensures work area meets shop standards for cleanliness and organization
  • Monitors training on University of Toyota and notifies Team Leader of needs
  • Ensures that flat rate time assignments are true and accurate and uses proper warranty documentation and policies
  • Arrives in good time to be dressed and ready to work by the time assigned by Service Advisor/Team Leader
  • Test drives all vehicles to ensure proper repairs and preventive maintenance following route determined by Team Leader

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
  • At least two years of automotive dealer or independent automotive shop repair required
  • ASE certification a plus
  • Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
  • Proficient with scan tool and diagnostic repair tools
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
