How will I contribute?
As a Structural Engineer Intern, you will work under the direction of an assigned mentor to develop and implement project deliverables. The focus will be performing analysis of building materials for use in construction. The engineer designs load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, equipment supports and foundations. Performs structural analysis of new and existing structured for both gravity and lateral (wind and seismic) load conditions. Prepares structural calculations, reports and details of structural elements that conform to client, regulatory, and industry standards. Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and a variety of engineering software.
Core Responsibilities
  • Responsible for basic lay out structural systems in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines. The Engineer conducts basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures.
  • Assisting with development of conceptual designs and coordinating with the design team under direction of the project team lead.
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors).

Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industry strongly preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights
  • Must be willing to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients and contractors)
  • Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working towards Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
  • Familiarity with Engineering Software Application including computer aided drafting, process modeling and calculations programs
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in Structural Engineering or related field
