JOB posting

JOB TITLE: Marine Mechanic

DEPARTMENT: Service

REPORTS TO: Service Manager or General Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Marine Mechanic is tasked with performing technical operations at the marina, with the main focus being on the customer. Each task undertaken at the marina aims to enhance customer satisfaction, boost customer retention, and drive profitability. The Marine Mechanic maintains a professional company image in all interactions. Given the fast-paced nature of this environment, the ability to work under pressure is essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system

2. Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of boat/vessel; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation

3. Ascertains problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking boat maintenance records; examining service schedules

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Previous Marine Mechanic experience preferred, not required

2. Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment

3. Must have flexible schedule to include working weekends and holidays during busy season 

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for the use of sound judgment, and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals. Assists with several projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to thirty (30) pounds

2. Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device in instances of emergency
