Facilities and Operations Manager
JOB SUMMARY
This position will oversee all softball activities at the Riverview Softball Complex. That includes overseeing recreational and competitive leagues, working with tournament directors that need space for tournaments, training and supervising assistant managers as well as umpires.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Overseeing all aspects of the softball program, including budgeting, scheduling games, and ensuring compliance with any relevant bodies.
• Communicate expectations with team coaches and players.
• Trains, supervisors, schedules and evaluates umpires.
• Resolves issues and conflicts between players, coaches, umpires, and guests.
• Interprets and enforces all departmental rules and policies.
• Ensures facility safety and cleanliness.
• Works with Buildings and Grounds staff to keep facility maintained.
• Oversees concessions operations while open.
• Addresses customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
• Ensures a positive and welcoming environment for patrons and employees.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists with the planning and execution of events and programs.
• Communicates with the Operations Manager about facility issues and concerns.
• Ensures the facility is thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis.
• Manages inventory of equipment and supplies.
• All other duties as assigned by the Operations and Facilities Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Softball League, Tournament and Umpiring Experience required
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Personnel Management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Thorough knowledge of both slow and fast pitch softball.
• Must possess a demonstrated level of ability and experience in areas of oral and written communications.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary.
• Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
• Must have the ability and history of remaining calm and rational when confronted with stressful or volatile situations.
• Must have a positive demeanor when in contact with the public and coworkers.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work environment is generally performed in an indoor and outdoor setting. Riverview staff will typically work afternoon/evening hours and weekends. Occasionally hours will be extended to cover tournaments from outside the city.
POST OFFER TESTING REQUIRED
• The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
• Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
