Job description

The Cedar Rapids Tourism Office is the exclusive convention and visitor's bureau under contract with the City of Cedar Rapids to market the City as a destination for events and leisure travel.
This position participates as a member of the Tourism sports sales team with tournament directors, actively selling our community, managing data entry for sales leads and contacts, preparing materials to support bids, sports event management, servicing sports clients and organizing sports site tours that take place in Cedar Rapids.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
1. Assist in the management and administration of sporting events including serving as event Tournament Director when assigned. This consists of working with event clients and National Governing Bodies to plan successful sports events and client servicing including, but not limited to, creating task lists, leading planning meetings, coordinating transportation, administrating client servicing, securing resources and supervising on site the successful creation of the event including the recruitment and coordination of event volunteers.
2. Participate as a member of the sports sales team to generate new sales leads, build relationships and assist in sales presentations and site tours as needed. This includes participation in sales missions and at industry trade show events as assigned.
3. Manage CRM data entry for client leads and sales opportunities.
4. Work with the Sports Director to develop successful site tours for tournament organizers and individuals coming through town to showcase Cedar Rapids in the best possible way.
5. Participate as a member of the Tourism team in an open office environment, greeting visitors to the office, answering the main phone line, directing inquiries to the appropriate department and assisting with visitor requests as necessary.
Work hours and schedule are generally Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5pm but will vary with required travel and attendance during events and at trade shows that includes holidays, evenings and weekends.
