Job description

At Destination Madison, we're all about sharing what makes Madison such a vibrant, welcoming, and unforgettable place to visit. We're looking for an enthusiastic intern who is excited to learn, contribute, and gain real-world experience in the tourism industry.

As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work across multiple departments, support exciting projects and events, and help tell the story of Madison to visitors, partners, and the local community. You'll gain hands-on experience, build valuable professional skills, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the many moving parts that make a destination organization successful.

What You'll Do

  • Work with teams across the organization to support a variety of projects and initiatives
  • Provide research and recommendations for key projects
  • Help maintain and update databases and assist with reporting
  • Support Destination Madison events, meetings, and community activities
  • Assist the Brand team with website and social media content
  • Participate in mailings, deliveries, and inventory management
  • Gain exposure to the many ways Destination Madison promotes the city and supports local businesses

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Friendly, positive, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic experience in customer service is a plus
  • Proficiency in Canva
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Madison's attractions, events, and community offerings is a bonus

Work Schedule

  • Primarily in-office at Destination Madison during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.)
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours to support events
  • Typically, 10-16 hours per week during the academic year
  • Up to 30 hours per week during the summer and winter break
